Fire Emergency
If You Discover a Fire
Small, Contained Fire (trash can, small item):
- If you feel safe doing so, use the nearest fire extinguisher
- Fire extinguisher locations: [MARK ON FLOOR PLAN]
- Aim at the BASE of the fire, not the flames
- If fire does not extinguish immediately, evacuate
Spreading Fire or Large Fire:
- EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY via nearest exit
- Do NOT attempt to fight the fire
- Pull the fire alarm if not already activated
- Call 911 from OUTSIDE the building
- Alert others as you exit (knock on doors, shout "FIRE")
- Do NOT use elevators
- Close doors behind you (do not lock)
Evacuation
- Exit via nearest marked exit
- Emergency exits: [MARK ON FLOOR PLAN]
- Assembly point: [LOCATION - e.g., "Far corner of parking lot near Route 50"]
- Do NOT re-enter the building for any reason
- Wait for fire department to clear the building
After Evacuation
- Account for your clients if they were with you

- Do not re-enter until fire department gives "all clear"
Medical Emergency
If Someone is Injured or Ill
- Call 911 immediately for serious injuries or illness
- Stay on the line - dispatcher will guide you
While waiting for emergency services:
- Do NOT move injured person unless in immediate danger (fire, etc.)
- If trained in first aid, provide appropriate assistance
- Keep the person calm and comfortable
- Designate someone to meet emergency responders at the entrance
After emergency services contacted:

- Preserve the area if requested by authorities

- Attempt to repair plumbing yourself
- Ignore "minor" leaks - they become major quickly
After the Emergency

- Suite may need to close temporarily for drying/repairs
Power Outage
Immediate Assessment
- Check if outage is building-wide or suite-only:
- Look in hallway - are common area lights out?
- Check with neighboring suites
Suite-Only Outage (Other Suites Have Power)
- Check your circuit breaker panel: [LOCATION IN SUITE]
- Reset any tripped breakers
- If problem persists, call maintenance: [PHONE]
Building-Wide Outage
- Contact utility company: BGE 1-877-778-2222
- Notify owner/manager: [PHONE]
- Use flashlights - NO CANDLES (fire hazard)
- Unplug sensitive equipment to prevent surge damage when power returns
- Keep refrigerator/freezer closed to preserve contents
During Extended Outage
- Emergency lighting will illuminate exits
- Exit building if HVAC is off and temperature becomes unsafe
- Do not use generators inside the building
Security Incident
Immediate Threat (Active Danger)
- Call 911 immediately
- If safe to evacuate, leave the building via nearest exit
- If unable to evacuate, lock yourself in your suite
- Turn off lights, silence phones
- Stay away from windows and doors
- Remain hidden until police give "all clear"
Suspicious Activity (No Immediate Danger)

Severe Weather
Tornado Warning (Tornado Sighted or Indicated on Radar)
- Move to interior area away from windows immediately
- Building shelter location: [LOCATION - e.g., "Interior hallway, center of building"]
- Do NOT stay in your suite if it has exterior windows
- Crouch low, protect your head
- Wait for "all clear" from local emergency management
Severe Thunderstorm
- Stay inside the building
- Move away from windows
- Unplug sensitive equipment
- Monitor local weather alerts
- Be prepared for potential power outage
Winter Storm / Ice
- Monitor weather forecasts
- Consider closing early if conditions deteriorate
- Use caution in parking lot (ice, snow)
- Report any facility damage from storm (roof leaks, etc.)
Extreme Heat (HVAC Failure in Summer)
- Report HVAC failure immediately (emergency priority): [PHONE]
- Open suite door to allow air circulation
- Consider closing for the day if temperature becomes dangerous
- Drink plenty of water
- Watch for signs of heat exhaustion
Gas Leak or Chemical Smell
If You Smell Gas
- Do NOT turn on/off any electrical switches (spark hazard)
- Do NOT use cell phone inside the building
- Leave the building immediately
- Call 911 from outside
- Call BGE Gas Emergency: 1-800-685-0123
- Do not re-enter until cleared by fire department/utility
Chemical Spill in Your Suite
- Ventilate the area (open door, turn on ventilation)
- Evacuate if fumes are strong
- Do not mix chemicals attempting to clean up
- For large spills or unknown substances, call 911
Poisoning or Chemical Exposure
- Call Poison Control: 1-800-222-1222
- Call 911 if serious symptoms
- Provide the name of chemical if known
- Follow instructions from poison control
Building Evacuation

- Visible smoke or fire
- Gas leak
